earlier this week we found out our little tito has heart failure. he's been losing a lot of weight recently but was still eating and drinking so we weren't sure whether or not to take him in to see the vet. it wasn't until we could tell he was starting to struggle to breathe that we decided we'd better get him in. the vet gave him lasix to get the fluid out of his lungs and took x-rays and found his heart to be severely enlarged. they told us that this is irreversible but, we could take him home with medication to keep him as comfortable as possible, prolong the inevitable and give us a little more time with him. we've been doing just that. we brought him home, have been giving him his medication every morning and night and feeding him all the treats he wants. we're taking him everywhere we can and when we're home we snuggle with him for hours. he's fragile and weak but, still gets up to bark at whatever intruder comes to our door or to greet us when we get home. he's had ice cream and scrambled eggs for breakfast the last two days and we will continue to feed him pretty much whatever he wants until the fateful day comes. thank you everyone who's taken the time to come see him and for all the kind words. my dear friend, tyra had cute collars made with titos name engraved on them for these stuffed animals she picked up for avery and cash. (you are the best tyra! & thanks again for the flowers & treats!) we love our little pups. to us they are our kids and closest family.
