celebrating cashs birthday and harleys triathlon

packing for st. george was interesting and a little frustrating...avery kept shoving things in my bag without me looking. we got up to 9 dvds at one point...ok we took them all! :)

we have travelling with these kids down to a science. keep enough snacks, a dvd player, coloring books and dinosaurs at hand and they are gooooooooood.

these guys were so excited to be going to a hotel. we told cash we were going to celebrate his birthday when we got to st. george so it quickly turned into 'his hotel' and then questions like: 'does my hotel have a swimming pool, mom?' started pouring in. it was darling.

we asked cash what he wanted to eat for his birthday dinner and his answer was rice, beans and tortillas! so we took our sweet little fella to costa vida!

cash had been eyeing this snake on his present ever since he saw it at grandma and grandpas the morning we left.

he was beyond thrilled to get a dinosaur coloring/activity book and a dino dan vest from grandma and grandpa roskelley and of the course -the snake.

every time we go out to my parents cash asks grandpa if they can play with his remote control car so........we got him his own. he was in heaven. played with it when he wasn't swimming or sleeping.
we stopped at the store in st. george to pick up some groceries for our stay and of course needed to get cash a cake. we told him to pick out any cake he wanted...that above is what he chose. i was hesitant to get it because it just looked...well, not good. i was completely wrong. it was so good! cash knows how to pick a cake ;)

happy birthday, cash! you the the funniest, sweetest, smartest four year old i know. you bring so much happiness and silliness into our home. our world would not be complete without you in it!

harley brought his dads ashes with him to his triathlon.

that's harley saying 'rock on'.

they're off on their 1500 meter swim.

coming out of the water.

this is harleys trademark in the transition area. it helps him find his spot and we can keep an eye on him and get pictures while he's there.

cash made sand angels.

the kids tried to catch this lizard.
they made new friends.

here he comes back from the 24.5 mile bike ride....when the race was over harley told us how during his biking part a bee flew into his shoe and stung his toe! it wasn't until we were walking back to the truck he stopped to check out his toe and pulled out the stinger. crazy.

off on his 6.2 mile run.

off to the finish line!

harley finished in 2hours 37 minutes. placed 9 out of 27 in his age group and 84 out of 207 (overall). not bad for someone who hardly trained!

after the triathlon we stayed the rest of the day at the pool and enjoyed each others company.

this was such a fun and memorable trip. i love this little family of mine!!
