spring is in full swing

yesterday we got a chance to work out in our yard. we'd been hit by the flu over the weekend that seems to be being passed through each family member. harley and i haven't been hit nearly as hard as the kids. so yesterday harley got the oil changed in the lawnmower and the weed eater up and running. i dug up a bunch of spring flowers that were planted under our fruit trees on the east side of the yard right next to the fence. dumbest place--ever--to plant a flower bed. the flowers get hit by all the fruit that falls off the branches and it's so much harder to keep the flower bed looking good. this is just my opinion, of course....this is all part of making the yard more user friendly for us. besides, i have a huge island in my front yard that is almost impossible to keep weeded and another flower bed that wraps around the front of the house from the porch to the fence. it's a lot to keep up on so anything we can do to make it a little easier is a welcomed idea ;)

my cherry trees are blossoming and they are absolutely beautiful. my apple and pear trees are starting to show buds and a few blooms. this gets me excited :)

i dug up all the tulips and daffodils and was hoping to transplant my peonies...i should have transplanted them last september but, i wasn't sure what we'd be doing to the yard this year....hopefully they'll come back.

avery and cash helped by climbing the apple tree and digging for fossils and worms ;) after we all got cleaned up we made dinner, baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and watched madagascar...it's all in a days work.
